Johnny Carter is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Flamingos and The Dells. An amazing accomplishment.
Johnny Carter left the Flamingos in 1960 to join The Dells to replace Johnny
Funches.
One of his best known hits was “Oh what a Night”, “Stay In My Corner” and “Golden Teardrops”.
The last time the band had performed together was at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction night.
The Dells had toured and sang back up with huge artists such as Ray Charles, Barbara Lewis and Dinah Washington in the mid 60’s.
With the help of Quincy Jones, Johnny Carter and The Dells had a long prosperous career.
