Sir Paul McCartney to Quit Touring in 2010

The former Beatle is said to be planning a series of spectacular shows which will take him to locations he hasn't previously performed.

According to The Sun newspaper, possible gig spots include Berlin's Checkpoint Charlie and  Tiananmen Square in China.

A source said: "Paul wants to go out with a bang.

"He's played countless stadiums over his 50-year career and is on the hunt for the most unusual locations he can find.
"He realizes that the older he gets, the less his body will be able to cope with the demands of extended periods on the road.”

Christina Aguilera becomes DJ, talks music, film

NEW YORK — You'll be hearing more of Christina Aguilera's voice on the radio soon, but it won't be in the form of a song. Instead, the pop singer will work as a DJ.

Aguilera's very own radio station is set to debut Friday. The 24-hour online channel will be distributed across Clear Channel Radio's "iheartradio" network, and will feature interviews, news, personal commentary from Aguilera as well as her favorite tunes.

"It stands across so many different feels and genres from A Tribe Called Quest to the Beatles to Billie Holiday to Bjork to Black Sabbath, Jay-Z," she said in a phone interview from Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The new radio venture, A.P.E. Radio (Artist Personal Experience), will also launch The Eagles' own channel Friday, to be hosted by guitarist Joe Walsh. Weezer's station is set to launch next month.

The radio station is not the only project she's working on. Aguilera, a 28-year-old mother to a 1-year-old son, is also working on a new CD and has signed on to do a movie with Cher; both are due to be released next year.

Avril Lavigne, Talks about New Album in the Works

What's Avril Lavigne been up to lately? Well, we know she's been enjoying herself boozing, hocking kiddie clothes and sticking to her one-woman campaign of reviving the trucker hat. But hey, it looks like the Brat-princess of pop has been working on music, too. Neat?

 Avril

Lavigne has an as-yet untitled album on target for a November 17 release, Entertainment Weekly reports. And of the 12 expected tracks -- thank your lucky Chuck Taylors -- it sounds as though the 24-year-old has finally grown out of her snotty "rap" phase (re: "Girlfriend").

"A lot of the songs are mainly the acoustic and my vocal," Lavigne told Billboard of the record. "It's a lot different from anything I've done before. It's not a pop-rock record. This is more about emotion and feeling."

Lavigne's reportedly been working from her home studio -- a fact made even more cozy considering her husband, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, is producing the bulk of the project

Michael Jackson's Legacy and Legendary Publishing Catalog

Country Music Night at the White House

The White House held a tribute to country music last night with stars Alison Krauss and her band, Union Station; Brad Paisley; and Charley Pride.

Here's some of what President Obama said to the guests:

"Now, I know folks think I'm a 'city boy,'  but I do appreciate listening to country music because like all Americans, I appreciate the broad and indelible impact that country has had on our nation.  It's touched countless lives, it's influenced all genres of music, it's helped us make the American people more hopeful, it's captured our restlessness and resilience, and told so much of our story in the process.

President Obama also made mention to Hank Williams, Willie Nelson.

Barenaked Ladies leave Nettwerk for Cam 8

The Barenaked Ladies have switched up their management, bolting Vancouver-based Nettwerk in favour of new L.A.-based firm, CAM 8 Management.

The Toronto band was the inaugural signing for the new firm, which was formed after a merger between Career Artist Management and Hard 8 Management.

Other CAM 8 clients include Maroon 5, Dashboard Confessional and Jakob Dylan.

Nettwerk suffered another blow in December when Canadian pop-punk star Avril Lavigne cut ties with the company, despite the fact that Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride was credited with initially discovering the Napanee, Ont., singer.

Paul McCartney’s Plays the Ed Sullivan Theatre

Sir Paul McCartney continues his US tour, with dates through out July and August. Interesting how the death of Michael Jackson, adds some publicity and free PR for Paul McCartney. I guess timing is everything…

Paul-McCartney

Paul recently played on the Late Show with David Letterman, ironically it is the Ed Sullivan Theatre, where Paul McCartney had played there for the first time 45 years ago with the Beatles.

There must have been so good and eerie feelings in the studio…

Paul McCartney still has what it takes to perform live, and of course the shows are always sold out.
